KIPP Jacksonville is thrilled to share exciting changes on our Board of Directors. Dr. Timothy Groover is the new Chair of the Board of KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools effective January 22, 2025. In addition to this leadership transition, we welcome two new members to our Board of Directors: Alex Kellison, who will serve on the Finance Committee, and Terence Wright, who will serve on the Education Committee.
Dr. Timothy G. Groover serves as the executive vice president and system chief medical officer at Baptist Health. In this role, Dr. Groover oversees the full scope of physician practice across the health system for nearly 3,000 providers, using data-driven best practices to enhance clinical, operational and service excellence, as well as identify and eliminate health care disparities.
Since joining Baptist Health as an anesthesiologist, Dr. Groover has held numerous leadership positions, and was named a Baptist Health System board member in 2014.
Most recently, he served as the president of the Baptist Physician Enterprise which includes all employed physicians ranging from primary care to more than 15 specialty and subspecialty groups. Prior to that he was senior vice president and chief medical officer for Baptist Physician Partners, a clinically integrated network of over 1200 physicians who provide coverage for value-based care. He also previously served as chief of staff of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
Dr. Groover holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and his medical degree from the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. He is married to Brittany and has one son who is in college.
Alex Kellison is the president of Heritage Capital Group, a leading investment banking firm based in Jacksonville, Florida. His primary focus is on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and formation, and strategic consulting and advisory for both domestic and international clients. Alex has over 15 years of professional experience in corporate finance and accounting roles including investment banking, asset management, and internal auditing.
Alex has served as a mentor and faculty advisor at UNF’s Coggin College of Business since graduating in 2009. Since then, he has mentored dozens of students on the topics of academic achievement and career development.
Alex has lived in Northeast Florida for over twenty years and currently resides in Oakleaf Plantation with his wife, Erana, and two daughters, Shoshana and Gianna.
Terence L. Wright is a dedicated community leader and educator, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida. His lifelong passion for serving his community, particularly at-risk youth, has driven him to be actively involved in various youth programs and activities. Wright has held numerous roles, including summer enrichment camp director, Boy Scout troop leader, and coach for youth football, basketball, t-ball, and baseball. Wright has designed, implemented, and facilitated several impactful youth mentoring programs such as Rites of Passage, Brothers for Peace, M.A.L.E.S. (Men Achieving Leadership, Excellence, and Success), and LEAP (Lift Empower Achieve Persist).
A proud graduate of William M. Raines High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration from the University of Florida and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
He has been married to his wife, Attorney Regina Wright, for more than twenty years, and they have three children: Teraney, Maya, and Terence II.
