As reported in the Florida Times-Union, the Florida Department of Education recently released Value Added Model (VAM) academic results for every school in Duval County.  The VAM measure allows parents and community members to determine the value a school adds to a student’s academic growth in reading and math over time.

Over the past two years, students at KIPP Impact Middle School grew 26% more in reading and math per year than comparable Florida students.  KIPP Impact’s results ranked as the #2 middle school in all of Jacksonville.

Comparing KIPP Impact’s performance to middle schools in the North and Westside of Jacksonville, the average KIPP student grew 25 to 35% more per year in reading and math than their neighborhood peers.

“We are pleased that our students are excelling at KIPP Impact,” said KIPP Jacksonville Executive Director Tom Majdanics.  “We are very encouraged by our progress but are mindful that we still have much hard work ahead to prepare our students for top high schools and colleges.”

With extended school days and daily instrumental music instruction, KIPP Impact’s mission is to prepare its students with the knowledge, skills, habits and character to be successful in college and in life.
